Sugar & Gold Bodyaches Remix EP Out Now!

Sugar & Gold Dots 1Yes! The Antenna Farm crew has spent the last few weeks gearing up for SXSW (more on that very soon, just you wait!) and just in time for the big party, Sugar & Gold are releasing their new Bodyaches EP today on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and tons of other digital retailers worldwide.

This 8 song EP features a new single edit of 2010′s hit Bodyaches, two brand new cuts, and 5 tracks from 2010′s Get Wet! remixed by friends like Yip Deceiver, Sorcerer, Maus Haus, Loose Shus, & Nastique. It’s the jam, but don’t take my word for it. You can listen to the entire EP over at Bandcamp, and it’s on sale there for a limited time, just $5 for a full album download. Get on it!

And like I said, more info coming soon on the Antenna Farm invasion of SXSW, in the meantime, some more S&G tour dates as they work their way down to Austin with tourmates Yip Deceiver….

ANT536 – Sugar & Gold – Bodyaches

Following nearly two years of non-stop touring and recording, Sugar & Gold released their sophomore LP, Get Wet! in 2010. Get Wet! saw the band expand their musical palette to incorporate elements of electro, new wave psychedelia, and german minimalism, woven together in a framework of transcendent modern pop.

The Bodyaches EP features two brand new Sugar & Gold tracks (the falsettofunk of Versatile Reciever and the atmospheric Medellin Moonlight) as well as a collection of Get Wet! cuts, remixed by a team as eclectic as the album itself. The electro funk banger Sneek Freq is given a laid back dub reduction by Sorcerer (Tirk Records, AKA Dan Judd of Rubies and Call & Response) while All Over You gets an arpeggiated pop remix courtesy of S&G tourmates Yip Deceiver (led by Davey X, bass player for of Montreal). Retro-futurist Loose Shus (Plant Records) brings the drama in a driving, bass heavy remix of Bodyaches, and Salty Seraphim is given a half-tempo, darkwave makeover by Maus Haus, one of San Francisco’s most popular live acts. The EP is rounded out by a pounding house mix of Feels Like Fire by Birmingham newcomer Nastique (AKA Dani Deluna, Kids Got The Disco).

The Bodyaches EP is released by Antenna Farm to DSPs worldwide on March 8, 2011.

Social Studies Record Release Party This Saturday, West Coast Tour Dates!!

Social Studies Record Release Party!Alright!

Social Studies‘ debut album, Wind Up Wooden Heart, is a hit, with some great new reviews rolling in, including a choice entry over at All Music Guide, to wit:  “An epic flair that suggests Ben Hur transformed into an indie pop operetta.” Whoah.

The album has also made editor’s picks over at digital retailers iTunes and 7digital (I might add that for a limited time, you can pick up a high quality MP3 version at 7Digital for under $7!) as well as indie mail order super store, Insound. Of course, you can also grab a copy right here at the Antenna Farm store. Orders ship next day, and come with a free poster. And for a limited time, we’re offering a 15% discount on ALL purchases through the AF store, just enter promo code “windup” at checkout! So if you haven’t yet, head on over to the AF Store!

But Social Studies have not just produced a great album, they are also an excellent live act. To put it succinctly, they are ace bunny-killers and tougher than leather.  And you can quote us on that. While getting ready for a full US tour in October, the band is playing their All Ages record release party in San Francisco this Saturday (August 7th) at the Rickshaw Stop with local heroes Maus Haus, 60 Watt Kid, and Montra. This show will likely sell out, so get advance tix here. For more info on the show, and to see which of your friends are already going, check the Book of Faces.

Social Studies will follow up the show this Saturday with a short run up and down the West Coast, including a couple of stops at some of our fave record stores for in-store performances (check out Millennium Music in Portland, and Origami Vinyl in Los Angeles!). If you have not yet checked this band live, drop what you’re doing, change your plans, and get on it! Tour dates below!
