For Jan Norberg's first solo record, we convinced him to trek to the SF Bay Area to record at Antenna Farm's own Telemart Concepts Studio. Hauling along Bassist/ Drummer Jason Albertini (Duster) as an instant rhythm section, Jan quickly got to work on some full band arrangements.
The result was a mix of rockers and acoustic songs, at times with the feel of David Bowie fronting Crazy Horse or Big Star, other times evoking the spirit of classic British Folk-Rock, from Bert Jansch and Vashti Banyan to Syd Barrett and Robyn Hitchcock. Either way, at the end of the day we had some instant classics on our hands.
Jan Norberg has a gift for writing songs that are total originals yet feel like classics, songs that are innate catchy yet lyrically intriguing enough to get stuck in your head for days. As his full time gig as frontman for Seattle rock juggernaut the Bats of Belfry heats up, this might be his last solo record for a little while, but keep your ears open, friends.
