Bay Area Record Label Fair, Saturday February 15thHey kids, wanted to let you know about a pretty cool happening coming this weekend. No, it’s not Valentine’s Day, you can spend that alone in your studio apartment sobbing into a bottle of Old Grandad like you do every year.

Happy New Year! Celebrate 2014 with 25% Off Everything in the AF Store!

Duck DerpYeah, 2013 probably wasn’t a year everyone wants to remember, but there were a few high points, no? Sure, shit got weird out there, but hey! Social Studies played Outside Lands! Dana Falconberry did a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR! And The Blank Tapes released the amazing Vacation LP and played the Carson Daly show! Foxtails Brigade did a NYC residency! We totally blew up SXSW! And around here, Antenna Farm welcomed a new member to the family and it’s been real good.

Nonetheless, I know everyone is ready to put 2013 behind us and ring in 2014 with extreme prejudice!

We’re there too. And to help ring in the new year, we are offering 25% off EVERYTHING in the Antenna Farm Store for the entire month of January!

Just enter promo code “2014” when you check out, and every CD & LP in your cart will be 25% OFF!

So get yourself over and pick out some of the tunes that your thoughtless friends and family failed to get you for Christmas/Haunnaka/Kwanzaa! Buy Early, Buy Often! And remember….when you think  no-one else loves you, just remember…AF has got you on speed-dial, baby.

Introducing Isadora!

Izzy Rider ArrivesHey All!

Join us in welcoming the newest addition to the Antenna Farm family. Isadora Vivien, born July 17th. And yes, she can sing like nobody’s business. Still pretty punk, but the technique will come in time.

We’ve always prided ourselves on running a label that was more like a family than a business, and our “mom & pop” approach to everything we did. Well, now Jill and Paul are actually a mom and pop, and Izzy Rider is a pretty big project!

As you might suspect, Izzy’s arrival comes with a bit of a slowdown in our immediate release schedule, and we currently have no new releases scheduled for the rest of 2013 while we take some time to get to know our newest signing.

But do stay tuned for new developments from Dana Falconberry (on tour now!) Emily Jane White (new LP in November!), The Blank Tapes (US tour with Sean Hayes in September/October!) and Social Studies (unstoppable!!!).

Cheers, and once again, Welcome to the Universe, Isadora!!

The Blank Tapes – Vacation LP in stores today, Dana Falconberry does an NPR Tiny Desk Concert

The Blank Tapes play Stranded Records

The Blank Tapes play Stranded Records

The Blank Tapes played a series of in-store shows over the weekend (including Origami in LA and Stranded in Oakland, pictured at right) to celebrate the release of their brand new LP, Vacation, in stores and on iTunes TODAY!

That’s right, you can mosey on down to your local shop, including those great shops, the Amoebas in LA, Berkeley, and SF, Waterloo in Austin, and a host of others to pick up this great record on CD or LP.

And remember, the LP comes complete with MP3 download, including the digital only, 7 track Holy Roller EP, exclusive to the vinyl edition. Of course if mail order is your thing, you can pick up the album via Amazon, or save a few bucks and head straight to the Antenna Farm Store. Get on it!

Meanwhile, over on the East Coast….

Dana Falconberry plays a Tiny Desk Concert

Dana Falconberry plays a Tiny Desk Concert

Dana Falconberry and her band are on tour and made a special stop in Washington DC to visit the NPR offices….for a Tiny Desk Concert.

If you have never checked one of these out, TDC’s are curated by All Songs Considered‘s Bob Boilen and Robin Hilton, and are a great way to check out your favorite band in a quiet, mellow setting. Painstakingly recorded to tape and video, these tiny concerts are great, and another one of the reasons we love NPR.

The broadcast date on this TDC remains TBA, so stay tuned!

Brutal new postal rates = Sorry, Canada & Europe!!

Greetings to our friends in Europe! Although we have already seen our CD and LP sales to your fine territories drop off due to ill-advised austerity measures and self-imposed recessions on the part of your political leaders, apparently there was not enough being done to completely wipe out the business of exporting American physical music to discerning European listeners.

Well, that oversight has been corrected with a brand new update of postal rates to Canada and Europe from the US!

Beginning today, it will cost us $13 American dollars to ship a compact disc or a 7″ record to any European recipient. An LP will come in at almost $20! Yes! That means we will be paying almost double we charge for the item just to ship it to you!

And, yeah, we sure wouldn’t want to leave our Canadian siblings up north out of the fun! So we have new rates for you as well, friends: it now costs almost $8 to ship a CD, $9 to ship a 7″ and a whopping $12 to ship an LP to you!

Jokes aside, it really kills us that running a small business as we do that we cannot afford to absorb much of these new costs and simply have to pass them along to our loyal customers. But we really have no choice, and that sucks. So please accept our apologies on behalf of our bankrupt postal service, and their seeming desire to deprive you of our CDs and LPs.

And of course all of our titles are available in digital format on iTunes, 7Digital, and hundreds of other digital retailers in your home country. It’s no substitute for holding the music in your hands, but perhaps this is the way of the future?

Social Studies – Terracur single on iTunes now!

Social Studies - TerracurJust a heads up that the first single from Social Studies‘ upcoming album, Developer, is now available on iTunes! Terracur is one of our favorite tracks off the new album, and the description of the song from Nylon Mag captures it quite well:

“The track starts off like a Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac slow-burner, but delivers a kick to the gut about a minute in, as shimmering keyboard notes explode like fireworks over Natalia Rogovin’s soulful intonations. Which is another way of saying, we love it.”

The B-side is an exclusive to this release, a remix of Holler Boys, from 2010′s Wind Up Wooden Heart, done by the inimitable Sugar & Gold. Good stuff.

And those of you in California, don’t forget! Social Studies hits the road this week for a short set of Bay Area and Los Angeles dates. Check it:
