Foxtails Brigade Announce new LP, Tour!

Foxtails Brigade S/T LPWe are pleased to share the news that one of our favorite local bands, Foxtails Brigade, are releasing their new LP early next month. Foxtails Brigade, their new self-titled LP, arrives April 8th, courtesy of an awesome new upstart imprint OIM Records, also based here in Oakland.

You can pre-order a copy on CD/Digital/Short-Run Vinyl at the FB Bandpage site, HERE.

Whether or not you are a fan of 2011′s The Bread and the Bait (still a few copies left in the AF store!), you will be staggered by this new LP, the product of months of work with legendary producer Jeff Saltzman.

To celebrate, the band is heading out on the road for a string of LP release shows, starting this Friday (3/25) in SF at the awesome Swedish American Hall.

To get a taste of the new album, check out new single ‘Nun But The Lost’. Tour dates below:

Foxtails Brigade Announce New Video, New Album & Tour Dates!

The ever-industrious Foxtails Brigade have been hard at work over the last few months working in the studio with producer-extraordinaire Jeff Saltzman on a new album, their first since 2012′s Christmas release Time Is Passed and 2011′s The Bread and the Bait. “Working with Jeff has been great,” says Laura. “We’re really excited about this album.”

So far no release date yet, but the band just signed to the up and coming Oakland label OIM Records, and we should expect something shortly after the beginning of 2016. In the meantime, the band is doing a short tour of the west coast and has released a great new video for the track ”Far Away and Long Ago”. Shot in one take by drummer Dominic Mercurio, the video channels Stanley Kubrick at his atmospheric best.

Be sure to check out the band on tour as they make their way up and down the west coast.

Foxtails Brigade release new video for Chat With Sivan

Shortly after Foxtails Brigade returned from their New York residency in June and before they headed to Estonia for a festival and series of gigs there, they managed to record a great live version of Chat With Sivan (the original studio version appeared on their album The Bread and the Bait).

Recorded on an old tape machine in a garden in Oakland, this is a great version of one of our favorite songs from The Bread and the Bait. Check it:

Foxtails Brigade release final Farmhouse Series video!

Foxtails Brigade have released the 4th and final video in their Farmhouse Series, a set of live performance videos captured by Jack Conte of Pomplamoose. This one is for Long Day, one of our favorite cuts off of 2011′s The Bread and the Bait.

Foxtails Brigade have been super busy this summer, with a set of new recordings in the works and a series of festival gigs, but they return to SF for a special show at the Bottom of the Hill in a couple of weeks (Saturday, September 1st) for a show with the excellent Yesway and Whiskerman. For tickets, click the image to the right.

And yes, the video! For those who haven’t caught one of the earlier entries in the series, these were strictly live performances with no overdubs or do-overs, but shot with multiple cameras and edited in the ‘Pomplamoose’ style (thanks Jack!). You can check them out here.

Foxtails Brigade – Farmhouse Series #4:

“Long Day”

Foxtails Brigade release video for We Are Not Ourselves

Foxtails Brigade have a new video, the third in the Farmhouse Sessions, recorded earlier this year by their friend Jack Conte (of avant-pop group Pomplamoose). Using a style that he has perfected for his own band, Jack utilizes a multi-camera recording of live performance…no overdubs or splices! The result is a video that captures the energy of the Foxtails Brigade live show, which is something to behold. Previous videos in the series can be seen here and here.

The new video is for the song We Are Not Ourselves, a new song slated for formal album release later this year that has not yet had a proper studio recording. This one is a personal favorite here at the AF HQ…we remember it’s debut last year, with front-woman Laura Weinbach excitedly announcing that a bout of insomnia the night before had produced a new song. It was a good insomnia! Indeed, the song leads into the insomnia itself, describing the voices in her head telling her to be quiet and go to sleep….we are glad she didn’t listen.

In addition to the video, Bay Area folks can catch up with Foxtails Brigade at the Starry Plough in Berkeley July 6th, with La Dee Da and the Missing Parts opening.

Without further ado, the video!
