Dana Falconberry Announces new LP!

Dana Falconberry & Medicine Bow - From the Forest Came The Fire

Dana Falconberry & Medicine Bow - From the Forest Came The Fire

In the 3.5 years since Antenna Farm released Dana Falconberry’s breakthough LP, Leelanau, Dana has traveled the world, played a thousand stages, and cemented the working relationship with her tight knit backing band, now awesome enough to merit a name of their own, Medicine Bow.

Following a fruitful collaboration with producer Jim Eno in 2014 that resulted in the Palmless EP, the band set to work on recording a proper LP. Dana has teamed up with stellar Austin label Modern Outsider for the release and we now have a release date: April 1.

But that’s not all, Dana and crew are headed out on a summer tour of National Parks and Monuments to celebrate the centennial of our national park system. From Dana’s site:

“We are also working on a series of really magical shows for this summer in National Parks across the country. This year is the centennial anniversary of our National Parks and we plan on celebrating with many shows in parks including Glacier, White Sands, Isle Royale, Yosemite, Crater Lake, Saguaro, and many many more.”

You can support this tour as well as get your hands on a pre-order for the LP plus a ton of other pledge-able goodies like hand-cranked chainstitched patches, custom block prints, t-shirts, and more by visiting Dana’s Pledgemusic page, HERE.

In the meantime, check out the first single from the LP, Dolomite!

Dana Falconberry tours the west, releases new single!

More great tour news for our friends on the west coast, Dana Falconberry is heading out for a string of dates with her full band, with stops in Tucson, San Diego, Los Angeles, SF, Sacramento, and more.

Dana is celebrating the release of her new 12″, the second entry in Spoon drummer Jim Eno‘s Public Hi-Fi Sessions. You may be familiar with that name, it’s the studio that Jim runs, and the birthplace to many fine records, much of the Spoon output included.

Palmless, the A-side takes Dana’s music in a very different direction than previous recordings, with droning guitars, synths, and an impatient programmed beat. The single is a true collaboration between Jim and Dana, and we can’t wait to see what comes next. Listen below.

The new vinyl, Public Hi-Fi Sessions #2, officially released on Record Store Day last week, can be picked up at your local shop, ordered HERE, or you can grab a copy from Dana herself when she rolls through town.

Dana Falconberry Tiny Desk Concert is LIVE!

Dana Falconberry & Band Tiny Desk Concert!

Dana Falconberry & Band Tiny Desk Concert!

During Dana Falconberry‘s late spring East Coast tour, she and her band stopped by the NPR offices for a bit and recorded a Tiny Desk Concert. It premiered yesterday on the NPR site, and it is awesome.

NPR has been a huge supporter of Dana’s most recent LP, Leelanau, and we want to thank them for putting this together. We could describe the session, but they did it perfectly:

Dana Falconberry‘s songs are gentle, almost invariably delicate, sometimes mysterious and frequently feather-light. But her music’s sweet, intricate softness never stands in for strength: This is a confident songwriter, whether she’s ambling through six- and seven-minute epics (“Leelanau,” “Dolomite“) or chirping sweetly in the bouncy “Crooked River.”

The compositions on Falconberry’s most recent album, last year’s Leelanau, are sturdy enough to be stripped down for a space like Bob Boilen’s desk at the NPR Music offices. But each benefits immeasurably from the broad assortment of lovely flourishes she re-creates here with the help of five instrument-swapping backing players. What makes Falconberry stand out in a crowded field of singer-songwriters is her music’s unfailing impeccability, and this Tiny Desk Concert finds her and her crack band hitting every immaculately crafted mark.” — Stephen Thompson, NPR.

Dana Falconberry and her band are on tour and made a special stop in Washington DC to visit the NPR offices….for a Tiny Desk Concert.

If you have never checked one of these out, TDC’s are curated by All Songs Considered‘s Bob Boilen and Robin Hilton, and are a great way to check out your favorite band in a quiet, mellow setting. Painstakingly recorded to tape and video, these tiny concerts are great, and another one of the reasons we love NPR.

The broadcast date on this TDC remains TBA, so stay tuned!
