2012 Roundup Antenna Farm Playlist!

What a year! Antenna Farm had a really exciting 2012, and we were privileged to bring you new sounds from Agent Ribbons, Dana Falconberry, Social Studies, Emily Jane White, Bart Davenport and Papercuts.

Every year we look back and reflect on how lucky we are to work with such a talented set of artists, and this year may have been our best one yet. So as you prepare for the full holiday onslaught, take a quick break with some of our favorite tracks from 2012. Don’t forget, all of these titles are available on iTunes, and of course Vinyl & CDs are available from these artists at the AF store, and are priced 20% off through the end of the year with the promo code ‘BLOCK20‘ at checkout! Happy Holidays!

Bart Davenport Tours Germany and Spain!

Bart Davenport in EuropeHappy Thanksgiving! While those of us in the Estados Unidos hunker down for a potentially toxic brew of tryptophan, football, and familial relations, Bart Davenport is keeping the faith with a string of shows in Germany and Spain. Nice!

Bart is finishing up work on his new album, recorded with his LA band, The Art Thieves, with producer Luke Top at the helm. We are big fans of Luke’s, we love his solo work, and we love his band, Fools Gold….and have been cool with this dude since Antenna Farmer Paul K played in the Papercuts band with him ten years ago. (editor’s note: that hurts.)

Meanwhile, Bart’s last release, the Someone2Dance 7″ continues to rock it, with a placement in the new indie film Smashed (it’s got Nic Offerman from Parks & Rec!!), and a spot on the film’s great soundtrack, alongside Sonny & the Sunsets, Smog, Richard & Linda Thompson, and more! We have just a few copies of this 7″ left and it will NOT be re-pressed, so get a copy while you can!

Bart Davenport releases video for Cheap Words!

In case there was still some lingering doubt as to whether Berkeley’s favorite son has actually made the move to the City of Angels, we now have definitive proof.

Bart Davenport has just released the video for Cheap Words, the B-side to his new Someone2Dance 7″, and it’s a beautiful montage of the sights of downtown Los Angeles at night…a perfect match for Sam Flax‘s synth-driven minimalist production on the track, itself a reduction of earlier pop versions of the song more in line with Cheap Words’ running themes of isolation and loneliness, wasted love and alienation.

Produced by the very talented Peter Rubi, and featuring Erin Weber, the video for Cheap Words is a paean to the desolation of skid row, both on the streets of Los Angeles and as part of a modern love affair. Wasted love indeed. Watch Now.

Bart Davenport tonight, Social Studies cancel Sunday!

First off, a hearty thanks to all the fans who came out for last night’s Foxtails Brigade show at the New Parish in Oakland. It was a great show, but if you missed it, Laura and the gang will be playing a special show at the Redwood Grove at the UC Botanical Garden on Thursday, August 4th. For more info click here.

Tonight the action is in Berkeley, as Bart Davenport returns from 3 months of European touring for his first Bay Area show in months. Joining him at Berkeley’s Starry Plough are the excellent Aerosols and Montra. More info here.

Finally, a little bit of bad news. Social Studies have had to cancel their Sunday show at the SF Indie Mart. Drummer Michael Jirkovsky had to have emergency surgery on his foot earlier this week, and will not be able to do the gig. Please join us in wishing him a speedy recovery….and let us remind you that the Indie Mart is going on as scheduled, so be sure to swing by Thee Parkside this Sunday for great food, beer, music, and crafts, clothing and more by local artisans. Plus it’s a benefit for IM founder Kelly Malone, who is fighting cancer sans health insurance so it’s a great cause.
