Social Studies hit the West Coast with the Donkeys!

That’s right. Starting next Wednesday, San Francisco’s Social Studies hit the road for a week’s worth of west coast shows, heading from LA up to Seattle and back again.

The band has been hard at work on new songs for a follow up to 2010′s Wind Up Wooden Heart, and we got a sneak preview last Sunday night when Social Studies headlined the Great American Music Hall here in SF, a benefit for the queer positive anti-bullying organization It Gets Better.

Accompanying Social Studies on this outing are San Diego’s The Donkeys, who have a new album out on Dead Oceans called Born With Stripes. You’ll hear a more pop approach on this album than their last outing, harking a bit back to their self titled debut album, released on Antenna Farm back in 2006.

Both bands put on great shows, so if you’re on the west coast, don’t miss it!

Social Studies and the Donkeys Tour Dates:

May 4th @ The Bootleg Theater – Los Angeles
May 5th @ Carbones – Monterey
May 6th @ Bottom of the Hill – San Francisco
May 9th @ Holocene – Portland
May 10th @ Sunset Tavern – Seattle
