The Donkeys are a band from San Diego. They play a groovy blend of country and blues, soul and indie rock that is as compelling as it is difficult to describe. We asked the band to help out and this is what they said:

The Donkeys are four dudes from San Diego. They like making music together. Sometimes their music is loud, and sometimes it's quiet, but always it is awesome. The Donkeys are Sam, Jessie, Tim and Anthony.

Sorry if this is too short, but it was all we could come up with. Feel free to beef it up but just don't make it sound like we're retro or sixties e.g. psychedelic, jammin, captain tripish, mushroomafied, medieval, medical, tasseled, groovy and so forth.

And so it goes. And they're right, really. The Donkeys are not about seizing on trends, wearing the right jeans or comparisons to what has come before. What they are about is great songwriting, super-tight musicianship and a style that draws from the entirety of the pop music spectrum. The Donkeys are about super catchy songs with heavy lyrics that stick in your head for days on end. And they're about a killer live show that might see a blues lick devolve into a Krautrock trance, or vice versa.

The Donkeys may not take themselves too seriously, but they are making a serious noise, one that must be heard to be understood.
